So Original Yarn Shop (Maryland)

So Original in Columbia, Maryland has the best selection of yarn and crochet supplies I have ever seen in one place! If you live in the D.C. Metro area, you should stop in and savor these amazing yarns. They also offer a variety of classes. You can reach the shop website here.

This is your one stop shop for wonderful yarns that look beautiful, feel beautiful, and will last for years to come. The only thing better than the yarns here is the amazing lady who owns and operates the store!

I have known the owner, Lana Ford, for more than 15 years and have learned more about yarn and fibers from her than any other source. Her store is like walking into a yarn encyclopedia. She LOVES crocheters, too! I highly recommend her store. Please tell her that Bonnie sent you.

Knit N Purl Yarn Shop (South Carolina)

Located at 830-B 8th Avenue South, Surfside Beach, SC 29575. Another crochet friendly store with many beautiful yarns to choose from. I've been shopping there (when in SC) for over a decade. The owner, Martina, is very knowledgable and friendly. They are also welcoming to crocheters.

Yarn Ball Winder

The Stanwood Large Ball Winder is a more expensive and larger winder than some of the others on the market, but this one is built well and can handle all sizes of hanks. The smaller ones are limited in the yardage that they can wind and I have heard that they may break more easily.

Swifts from The Oregon Wood Worker

I got to meet this wonderful couple while teaching in Colorado at the Interweave Yarnfest in 2022. I was smitten by the beautiful woods used to make these table top swifts. I found that these are much easier to use than my umbrella style swift, especially when encountering tangled yarn. This version is so much more forgiving since it does not have a post in the center (as the umbrella version does) that must be worked around. Check it out at this link.

Crochet Hooks

I love the Susan Bates brand. If you can't find them in your local craft stores, Amazon does carry them at this link.
